Mr. Henry Okonkwo is a Surgical Physician Associate with over 18 years of surgical experience and over 18 years of experience in the practice of medicine. His formal training is in general surgery, trauma, vascular surgery, Internal Medicine, and Dermatology. He also has a broad range of clinical experience and knowledge in various other specialties such as Family Medicine, OB-GYN, Emergency Medicine, Occupational Medicine, and more. Over the past 8 years his work has been primarily focused on the sub-specialty of surgical wound care. Since then, he has preformed thousands of wound debridements and other related surgical procedures. He has managed tens of thousands of patients with wounds of all classifications (acute, chronic, traumatic, surgical, diabetic, pressure, vascular, burns, etc…).

 

Mr. Okonkwo is a certified Skin, Wound, and Ostomy Specialist. He is also a clinical educator. He has trained and educated over 100 doctors, PAs, and NPs in the specialty of surgical wound care and thousands of nurses in the field of wound care and documentation. He has developed countless educational materials as well as Continuing Education courses for Doctors, PAs, NPs, and nurses in wound care. He has also published and presented research at the national wound care conferences. He has over 10 years of nursing home clinical experience and he is an expert on government regulations surrounding wounds and wound care. He also provides legal case review and lectures on legal risk management and prevention. Mr. Okonkwo is a co-founder of the College of Long Term Care, and is also a Master Teacher at the SWOC Certification course. He is a Clinical Instructor for the College of Long Term, and the Director of Education and Photographic Documentation. Mr. Okonkwo is also the Chief Operations Officer of Clinical and Sales for Skilled Wound Care Surgical Group. He is also the lead physician and physician assistant trainer for the Skilled Wound Care Program.

  

The creation of The Atlas of Wounds, Ostomy, and Skin textbook and The Wound Atlas Apps are among the many clinical endeavors Mr. Okonkwo has achieved. His passion for medicine, education, and advancement of patient care drives his many projects.
